I am pleased to inform you that the Conference of the Franciscan Family, during its meeting of the 18th December 2005, examined “The Damietta Initiative” project and felt it was fully in keeping with the spirit of dialogue proper to the Franciscan charism.
The Conference, therefore, willingly grants its patronage to the project and hopes that this can be developed and spread the message of peace and reconciliation throughout the African continent, thus encouraging the encounter with the acceptance of the other, especially in those contexts in which religious, ethnic, nationalist and social tensions are a constant threat to the peaceful co-existence of men and women.
