On the 4th August, Lancelot Thomas (DPI South Africa), Martin Mande (DPI and Xavieri) and Sr Aine Hughes (Caritas South Africa) attended a discussion group on the role of the Justice and Peace group of the Southern African Catholic Bishops conference to look at the needs of non-nationals in South Africa and how the SACBC, through the J&P commission can offer a worthy response. - 1 September 2009

The DPI/Caritas partnership, in collaboration with the Coordinating Body of Refugee Communities, celebrated World Refugee Day in Johannesburg, and launched a new programme for integration of refugees into South African communities. - 26 June 2009
Participants from Johannesburg and Pretoria took part in a Basic-PACT Enablers' Training Workshop as part of the DPI outreach against xenophobia in South Africa, from 15th - 17th May 2009. - 21 May 2009
